We have been persistently working for the well-maintenance of sustainable development goal number 4 “Quality Education” in Nepal. The education system in Nepal splits into Private Sector and Government/Community Sector. Private School has been providing better education facilities with well equiped infrastructures, taking lots of fees from students. Hence, many families could not afford their children to private schools. On the other hand, Government/Community Schools provide free basic education to the students, however, less facilities and ill managed infrastructures badly hamper their education quality. This creates a huge gap among the students of Private Schools and Government/Community schools. We have nailed down that we should bridge the gap between these two education sectors. The modified concept has been aimed to strengthen Government/Community schools in terms of infrastructures, teaching methodologies, educational facilities and good bonding between school and community.

Under the project model, we set up five strategical plans.

  • Modern facilities and tools to implement quality education
  • Fosters modern teaching and learning practice
  • Better health and environment for better education
  • Community Outreach Program to help students in communities and engage parents in workshops regarding good parenting
  • Empowering students via life skills, ECA and workshops

Currently, we have been implementing this project model at Shree Setidevi Basic School, Kaaule, Dolakha in partnership with Hope4Smile. We are working to strengthen the school in all aspect, building a foundation towards MODEL SCHOOL.

We recruited a School Leader at the school after a comprehensive selection processes and an extensive training. The School Leader was then deployed at the School on January 01, 2021 for the duration of 15 months. She has been looking over the project locally and also, has been teaching and leading the school team in various decision making processes.

Implementing the project, we set up a Library,”Aarambha Aashako Pustakalya”, a Science Lab, a Computer Lab and an Auditorium in the school in order to facilitate quality teaching learning process. We supported some resources for Multi Grade Multi Level practice. We also conducted a General Health Camp and Dental Camp for the community and children. ECA and CCA activities have been conducted regularly. We have been organizing Teachers Training from time to time to encourage and empower teachers working at the school.

We are so positive on the impact this project would create in the community. We are planning to replicate this project to other schools and other districts as well. Partnerships are appreciated.
